Coral Residence Tower Fujairah Plays Host to 1st Annual Senior ITF Championship

Date Posted: 21-02-2010

Coral Residence Tower, Fujairah is once again set to accommodate top class tennis players for the second time in 2010 with the start of the 1st ITF Senior Tennis Championships in early March.

Following on from the 2nd ITF Fujairah Junior Tennis Championships held in January, Residence Tower is to welcome the players taking part in the first annual senior ITF championships to be held in the Emirate.

As the official hotel of the tournament organised by Tennis Emirates and the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the property will provide the perfect place to prepare for games and also to relax and recover following a competitive day on the court.

Hotel General Manager, Mr Elie Tohme expressed the desire for the property to become synonymous with tennis in Fujairah. “The tennis championships held at the Fujairah Tennis & Country Club are important in drawing people to Fujairah, to see not only some great tennis but to see the wonderful Emirate of Fujairah and everything it has to offer.

“We’re delighted to be the official hotel for another ITF championship

and it’s something we’re keen to do on a long term basis,” he said.

“Our luxury property is ideal for sportsmen and women, as we have all the facilities for them to properly prepare for competition and then to unwind and recover afterwards.”

The tournament is held on the Decoturf surface of the Fujairah Tennis & Country Club, with the hard playing surface guaranteeing a fast paced game – great for spectators and challenging for the participants.

The Championships will be held from 8th March to 13th March, with the entry deadline on 27th February at 12pm. The competition will feature men’s and women’s categories in both singles and doubles as well as a mixed doubles category. The senior age category is for players between 35 and 65.

The event is a non-Tennis Emirates ranking event, so places in the rankings will not be up for grabs, but the tennis on display will be no less competitive. With a wealth of talent from around the Emirates predicted to attend the competitive edge will be inherent with each player eager to test their mettle against one another.
