According to Forrester Research, mobile bookings are growing faster than online, which are increasing at around 10 per cent a year.
HinaBakht, Vice President, MPJ – Marketing Pro-Junction, the company that has developed the mobile apps for Corp Executive Hotel Apartments Al Barsha, stressed, “It is just the first stage of the revolution where we are seeing more and more people using the new tool.It might take some time for the masses to fully embrace mobile bookings – just as it used to be with website bookings few years ago, but we are seeing a march in that direction.
“There are approximately 5.3 billion mobile subscribers today (which is 77% of the world population) and nearly 25% of those use smartphones. In fact one in every three people in the US alone (in the age group of 13 years and above) has a smartphone and that figure is expected to double by 2015. And smartphone users are increasingly using mobile applications.Over 300,000 mobile apps have been developed world wide in the last three years. This is a small indication of what lies ahead and how important it is for hotels to develop their mobile apps.”
It has been revealed by mobile analytics firm Flurry that the average user spends 81 minutes a day using mobile apps, more time than is spent Web browsing on a computer or other device. In the coming months the impact of mobile apps on the bottom line of hotel business will be far more noticeable than it is today.
