DESTINATION-WORLD CUP-Got Rooms at Coral International Cape Town

Date Posted: 16-05-2010

Hotel rooms are fast running out in Cape Town as bookings pour in for the 2010 FIFA World Cup with nearly three-quarters of hotel rooms already booked.

Even though the number of arrivals is estimated to be lower than previously anticipated, about 350,000 foreign visitors are still expected to pour in for the month-long tournament in South Africa, many of whom seems to be leaving their booking confirmation until the last minute.

The good news, however is that the newly-opened 5-star Coral International Cape Town still has rooms available for the period (10th June to 12th July) at a special rate of 3,500 ZAR for single and 3,700 ZAR on a bed and breakfast basis including all taxes and tourism levies. Featuring 137 luxury, spacious rooms and suites, Coral International Cape Town is a world-class international 5-Star boutique hotel with superb facilities for both leisure and
business travellers. All rooms and suites are elegantly decorated with VIP amenities and provide stunning views of Table Mountain and the city.

Commenting on the impact of the international credit crises, General Manager, Jacqui Booyzen says: “Hoteliers in the city are in agreement that we are still feeling the lag. Indeed, instead of visitors booking for two to three week stays they are only booking for three to six night stays.”

Studies have shown that in line with previous World Cup events, room rates are likely to soar by between 20 and 200% for the South African held World Cup event. Nearly half of the establishments will charge peak season rates during this time, which, despite it falling over the traditional off-season period, is considered peak season for the country.

"In line with current international travel trends, we anticipate substantial last-minute bookings”, continued Jacqui Booyzen. “South Africa and Cape Town is ready to receive the world and we are ready to handle last-minute bookings, though we urge those who would still like to catch a glimpse of this momentous occasion to book sooner rather than later."

Coral International Cape Town is ideally located in the heart of the city with quick access to the airport, V&A Waterfront, major tourist attractions and the Cape Town Stadium which will host 9 World Cup matches including one second round, one quarter final and a semi final match.

The World Cup promotion at Coral International Cape Town is available from June 10th to July 12th 2010. Special conditions may apply.
