Watch out for some slam-dunk sporting action in Sharjah next month when the Coral Beach Resort – Sharjah co-sponsors the exhilarating 5th annual Street Challenge, being held at the Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club from 9-10 April. Similar to a basketball tournament, but with just three players on each team and one basket hoop, the popular competition usually attracts around 300 players and offers cash prizes of up to AED 10,000.
This year the action is set to get even more thrilling thanks to the on-court antics of Slovenian basketball stunt team, the Dunking Devils, who will be staying as guests of the Coral Beach Resort. The acrobatic team has performed all over the world to rave reviews, including France, the UK, Italy, Thailand and the US. The troupe’s amazing routine, which sees them using trampolines to perform gravity-defying leaps, spins and somersaults on the basketball court, will be showcased to the audience in a daily one-hour performance. Hotel guests and Rimal Club members will also be treated to a short taster of the group’s skills at an exclusive show that will take place in the property’s garden area. Coral Beach Resort is no stranger to hosting sporting talent, as General Manager Jean Pierre Simon points out. “We have a long history of extending invitations to sports players as we are committed to boosting Sharjah’s profile as a centre of cultural and sporting excellence.
