Date Posted: 05-12-2011

The 40th UAE National Day celebrations at Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha concluded on a high note on December 3. As the country celebrated, Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha was an enthusiastic participant in the festivities which reflected the spirit of a land and its benevolent rulers. The festivities at Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha began from 15th November and concluded on 3rd of December 2011.

Throughout the festivities, the hotel which was competing with 30 other properties for the UAE Award, had various activities that enthralled guests, giving interesting insights into this young nation – its history and achievements. There was a distinctive spot to felicitate the rulers complete with the UAE regalia. A specially constructed museum reminded visitors how Emiratis lived before the formation of the United Arab Emirates, and before modernity.

The photographic art exhibitions on the local heritage, as well as UAE rulers were part of this museum which also hosted daily poetry readings. Staff dressed in traditional UAE attire received guests at the hotel. The employees also came together to create a human flag on November 24 in the car park area. Even the community clean up initiative on November 24, was linked to the UAE National Day celebrations with staff attired in UAE national colours.

“Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha feels honoured to be part of the landscape of UAE, a young, dynamic nation. Truly the UAE is a microcosm of the United Nations. All of us take immense pleasure in living and working in this land which has embraced people from across the globe. We used the National Day celebrations as an opportunity to demonstrate our pride in this diverse nation that many call home; to celebrate as one with vigour and inclusiveness,” said Gilles Nicolas - Operations Director

As part of the celebrations, visitors to the hotel lobby were also treated to Emirati music, Kahava (traditional coffee) and Henna tattoos. A special Arabic menu was served in the all day dining restaurant– The Gem Garden.
