Watch the World Cup Live at Belgian Beer Cafe in the Grand Millennium Dubai

Date Posted: 23-05-2010

Every four years, the world's sports fans share an experience unlike any other in its intensity, its drama, its exultation, its heartbreak: the World Cup, a tournament involving 32 countries from almost every corner of the globe.

For a month, it will transform the Belgian Beer Cafe, at the Grand Millennium Dubai, into perhaps the city’s best party scene. Book a table for four persons for AED 200, which includes special beverage and a plate of BBC snack food for 4 persons; or you, may book a table for 20 people for AED 2400 which includes special beverages and BBC’s famous mussels with fries. For the duration of the World Cup, there will be daily lucky draws with great prices to win.

People are wondering about where to watch the World Cup in Dubai. Loads of places will be showing the games live; yet the best remains your favorite neighborhood spot — so we’re going to keep the focus on the place that will serve as de facto headquarters for all national teams.

Hermann Feigl, Director of Food & Beverage, said, “We plan to show every game in the tournament. We view ourselves as the outlet for all soccer. Indeed, we feel that instead of every community celebrating themselves, we would rather do something for everyone to celebrate together.”

The magnitude of this quadrennial event is second to none and no one wants to be missing out on the action: the joyous crowds eating, drinking and celebrating together in their neighborhood bar.

In 2006 for the last World Cup, it was calculated that the attendance of the final championship game on July 9, had approximately one billion people watching or listening. The world appeal of this event can be measured or interpreted,as one-sixth of the world's population

will be tuned into the final games.

“People just want to be part of the magic of 2010,” explains Hermann. “Our guests want to be with us for the atmosphere and the spirit here. It’s going to be great. They want the ambiance to sweep them along during this month long holiday of fun and togetherness that is the World Cup. Everyone wants to be right smack in the middle of the action and become one with the crowd.”

Belgian bars are known as "estaminets"; dating back to the 18th century they have remained unchanged ever since and are certainly not restricted to beer-lovers - wine, coffee, tea and cheap, tasty snacks can be ordered at any time of the day.

Within easy reach from the Greens and TECOM area communities, the Dubai Belgian Beer Cafe is now open at the Grand Millennium Dubai - Al Barsha South – TECOM. Every detail of the interiors reveals an aspect of Belgian life. The art nouveau design with the soft lighting takes you back to the 20’s. Specially trained bartenders pull the famous 40-odd beers of Belgium - including Hoegaarden, Leffe and Stella Artois - with the customary two fingers of foam at the top. The menus are as authentic as the dcor. Together with their friendly staff they have created an atmosphere of warmth and relaxation where people can socialize, host functions, & conduct business in a comfortable environment.

Total football obsession is about to consume 90% of the world, and scores of passionate fans will call in sick to work, forget to eat and spend a month living football. So clear your calendar for June 11th to July 11th 2010 to watch some great World Cup action. The Belgian Beer Cafe is located on the ground floor in the main lobby of the Millennium Grand Dubai Hotel, Al Barsha – TECOM. Opened daily (12:00 Noon until 02:00 AM) serving lunch and dinner. A cosmopolitan, vibrant and fashionable place with nightlife and culture, they have several large TV screens and plenty of football atmospheres with, at times, the feel of a great stadium.
